Foundations of Yoga
Foundations of Yoga Workshop Series is a three-week workshop series that blends yogic tradition with the physical practice. Wonderful for beginners who are just getting started in yoga, and also terrific for students who want to try a new style of yoga or to brush up on the foundational aspect of the practice.
Week One
“Yoga for EveryBody: General Overview of Yoga”: This week will focus on the origin and definition of yoga, the health benefits of a regular yoga practice, using as a foundation Accessible Yoga and Alignment-based yoga asana.
Week Two
“Finding What’s Right for You: Accessibility in Yoga”: Week Two will focus on the power of the breath and breathing exercises (pranayama), the teaching of asana from BKS Iyengar, and Embodied Alignment.
Week Three
A Pastiche of Yoga Styles: Flow, Yin, Restorative, and Nidra: This week will focus on yin/yang philosophy, flow, yin, restorative, and nidra. Excellent for testing out a style of yoga you haven't tried yet.
